The whimsy of a seesaw, the vibration of moving water, the sound of the ocean. The senses unite for a magical experience in e/motion, a new interactive installation opening June 20 at Lynn Wyatt Square.
e/motion is a revised version of the childhood seesaw—updated with modern technology. As users ride the infinite wave on either end of the apparatus, a glowing liquid in the center ebbs and flows with each up and down.
e/motion was created by Olivier Landreville in collaboration with Serge Maheu, produced by Init and is tour produced by Creos.
According to Landreville, e/motion offers “endless possibilities to create the perfect wave. The user, by manipulating or riding the seesaw, immediately takes control of the wave and therefore of the experience.”
Landreville said he hopes the installation takes users young and old back to the carefree joys of life.
Avenida Houston showcases interactive art exhibits or installations each summer. e/motion is free and open to the public at Avenida through September 2.
